pet and rescue photography

about

Firstly, I love taking photos, but not just any photos though, photos that show the real personality of your family member. Yes, to me a pet is a family member. Sometimes I can’t believe that people pay me to do something I love so much. I’m glad I am though, it helps turn a dream into a reality.

I started visiting shelters in South Korea in 2010, taking photos to help promote the shelter animals many people had forgotten and abandoned. In early 2012 my wife and I, along with our two rescued dogs (Bambina and Hope) are moving to Central Virginia to start a small 7 acre farm, neither can us wait. The dream won’t stop, it’ll just move a little to the left or right.

I’ve had animals my whole life, whether it be a cat a dog or a bird of all things. I love playing with my cocker spaniel and to me she helps make my family a home. I’m forever taking photos of Bambina and she is my moo pup (she looks like a tiny cow shaved), she is my test subject and if you follow the blog I’m sure you’ll get to know her very quickly.

If you’re looking for set photo shoots in a studio, with little hats and floral dresses, backdrops of rainbows and marshmallows I’m not the photographer for you. My aim is to take fun, friendly and photos in a natural situation with natural light. Please check out the photos in my portfolio, and the pet and rescue parts of this site.

I’m much more comfortable on the other side of the lens, but that’s good for you. If you have any questions please look at the faq and either contact me on facebook or by email.

Welcome to ‘aroha photos’ and I hope we get to work together soon.
